Lavacolla
Lavacolla: In this place, very close Santiago, the pilgrims, due to tradition and hygiene, were in the habit of washing the whole body in the stream that flows through, as a sign of purifications before entering the town of destination. This hygienic spiritual habit appears for the first time in Book V of the Codex (“at a wooded place by the stream, the French people who made the pilgrimage to Santiago used to wash the dirt off their whole bodies”). This description is likely to match this place.
Lavacolla : En esta localidad, muy próxima a Santiago, el peregrino tenía, por tradición e higiene, la costumbre de lavar todo su cuerpo en el riachuelo que pasa por este lugar, como señal de purificación antes de entrar en la ciudad de destino. Esta costumbre higiénico-espiritual, que aparece señalada por primera vez en el Libro V del Códex (“En un punto de mucho arbolado de este riachuelo, las gentes francesas que peregrinaban a Santiago…acostumbraban a lavar….la suciedad de todo el cuerpo”), posiblemente se corresponda con este lugar.
